The ABC+G 5 Day Energy Boost

With the new school year quickly approaching, I thought I would do a 5 day energy boost. You are welcomed to join in and post any comments below as we move toward Friday.  You can still eat normally, but just add this into your daily routine.  


  • 1 medium apple
  • 1 peeled beet
  • 2-3 medium sized carrots
  • 1 inch ginger root

This is the recipe that some people drink before they run a marathon!  It should give you a noticeable energy boost throughout the week and also provides a ton of other health benefits.  I am doing it for the energy and mental clarity!

Benefits:  Allergies, Alzheimer’s, Arthritis, Blood Clots, Body Cleansing, Cancer Prevention, Candida, Carpal Tunnel, Cellulite, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Colds, Constipation, Hemorrhoids, Inflammation, Memory, Overweight, Circulation, Psoriasis, Sore Throat, Stress, Weight Lost, Infections.  

What to buy:

Try to find a bag of organic apples.  Apples are on the must buy organic list as the pesticides go through the skin to the core.  You will need about 5 apples.  

Buy a bag of organic carrots.  These are actually cheap if you go to Trader Joes!

If you have a Publics near you, they sell organic beets.  You can get regular beets, but just peel them.  You can buy 1 bushel of 3 and that should last if you only use half.  

Buy a good amount of ginger root and try to increase it as you move toward the end of the 5 days.  Do not add too much!!

This mixture tastes really good by the way!!

  • Apple
  • Grape
  • Lemon

200% vitamin A          500% vitamin C           2,882% vitamin K           16 grams of protein

I get numbers like this each and every day!! It is obvious why it works so well!!!

Red Fire Mix


This mix is also very healing for a variety of health ailments.  I would add a half of lemon with the skin to help cover the parsley taste and lemon is great for your body anyway.  I called it red fire mix because I might have put a bit too much ginger in it and it turns out a dark red.  This makes quite a bit at about 32oz and you can just use half the amount pictured above. 

If you start off with half a pepper and follow it up with parsley or cilantro, the pepper blocks the blade a bit so the herbs get compacted and they do not just shoot into the back of the juicer.  I do want to look into purchasing a hand crank juicer from for the herbs to get the most juice out. 

Red Fire Mix

  • 1 peeled beet
  • beet greens
  • 1 pear
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro
  • 3-4 carrots
  • 2+ inch of ginger (for the brave)
  • 1/2 lemon with skin

To be, or not to be Gluten Free?


I have been gluten free for quite a few months now and I decided to try and add one peanut butter and jelly sandwich on regular potato bread to my daily diet to see what would happen.  The results were interesting and really match up with a gluten sensitivity problem.  Although I am bummed that I cannot process gluten foods very well, I think it is for the best to just stay away. 

Here are some symptoms of gluten intolerance that I noticed shortly after included it back into my diet

  • Lack of energy – very tired shortly after eating it.
  • Cloudy foggy mornings
  • Excessive gas and stomach rumbling as it gets digested or not digested
  • Stomach noises in the evening
  • Foul trips to the bathroom

Now when I completely avoid gluten products, I have way more energy and I am more alert.  My stomach is very calm and the trips to the bathroom do not peel the paint off of the walls.  haha

I think if you have Crohn’s or IBS it is important to go gluten free.  This bread also turns to sugar and then feeds bad bacteria and can lead to overgrowth.

Get all of your colors!!!


Here is a really tasty recipe that I just put together and I thought I would share.  The spinach and Kale that I used was a lot more than what you see.  It was just for the picture:)

  • Red grapes
  • Purple carrots
  • Yellow beet
  • Red bell pepper
  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Ginger

This combo made about 24+oz and I drank every bit of it!!! It does come out a little muddy water color, but it super sweet.

This is a link to one of my favorite drink blends that I just had today.  This website is awesome because it really informs you of the health conditions that this mixture helps to treat.  I substituted green cabbage for the cucumber for a different variation.  I also put the whole lemon in with the skin and it tastes really sweet, but may come out a muddy color due to the carrots and spinach.  I hope you enjoy this one!
