The Cause of Crohn’s and Treatment = Crohn’s increasing 300% over the past 10+ years!

The article above is a bit scary to know how sharply Crohn’s has increased in a short period of time.  Sure detection methods have gotten better and you can blame it all on genetics you want, but to increase by 300%!! To increase that much there has to be much more to it than just genetics and better technology.

As I read about the MAP vaccine and many other articles, I believe Crohn’s is caused by a bacterial infection.  I believe that our air, drinking water, GMO processed food, Milk and wheat are responsible for causing this bacteria imbalance.  All of these things have changed over the last 10 years and are highly processed.  The chemicals used to keep these foods fresher longer must have a horrible effect on the gut flora balance.

So far, when testing Crohn’s patients for MAP over 93% test positive for the infection! Those that receive the triple antibiotic therapy to kill MAP go into remission rather quickly and that points to infection not heredity.

I remember taking Cipro for a month way back and I remember that my symptoms for Crohn’s greatly reduced.  At the same time though the Cipro was killing off the good bacteria as well.

Everything seems to point to a bacteria imbalance and I don’t think the immune system causes this.  I think the flora imbalance causes the immune system to begin the aggressive attack on everything.

It makes sense that strong probiotic therapies work.  Fecal transplants have worked as it changes the gut flora dramatically. Juicing works because many ingredients are antibacterial and anti-fungal.  The garlic and oregano work because both have anti-MAP properities.

So there are two schools of thought here I guess:

1.  Heredity/Genetics cause your immune system to go on the attack that creates a bacteria imbalance and food/environment has nothing to do with it.  300% increase of Crohn’s this way??

2.  Our food becoming void of nutrients, GMO/Pesticides go into the body and start to slowly change the good vs bad bacteria balance.  The MAP bacteria begin to grow out of control and your immune system starts to go on the attack.  The immune system needs to kick it up a notch and starts to attack everything even healthy tissue. Crohn’s begins and so does the endless cycle.


Immunomodulators:  Suppress the immune system so it does not attack healthy tissue, but the bacteria is still there.

Anti-inflammatories:  The immune system stays the same and creates inflammation.  The drugs soothe the inflammation, but the bacteria is still there!

Anti- MAP:  The triple antibiotic therapy seeks out to kill the bacteria first.  The immune system calms down and does not need to fight so hard.  Inflammation stops due to the immune system calming down.

My Natural Approach:  By taking the Oregano oil(antibiotic) and juicing daily, I was killing off this bacteria that was driving the immune system.  The juicing was also healing and nourishing.

It is hard to say what school of thought to go with.  I think it seems pretty obvious that for most people it is not heredity because there are just way too many cases popping up in developed nations when compared to those that are not industrialized.  They do not have the processed everything that we have:)

MAP: Possible Crohn’s Vaccine

I stumbled upon some exciting news, a potential Crohn’s vaccine is in development and it makes a lot of logical sense.  It also gives credibility to why juicing put me into remission for a year along with natural antibiotic supplements.  Above is the main link for the website.

This link takes you to a sequence picture of how MAP bacteria potentially infects the body and manipulates the immune system causing Crohn’s and many other autoimmune diseases.  Basically, animals that we get milk and food from are infected with this specific bacteria.  We then eat and drink from this animal and infect ourselves.  Some people develop greater problems such as Crohn’s from this and some just do not.  There are 3 antibiotics that specifically target this MAP bacteria and remission has been very successful with this treatment. The only problem is that this is a new idea and many doctors just don’t believe in it yet.

The vaccine itself has been very successful in animal trial and is ready for human trial testing.  My guess is that they would treat the individual with these antibiotics and then give them the vaccine.  Those so far that have done the antibiotic route have attained remission, but when stopping the treatment they get their symptoms back.  With the vaccine in place, they are hoping that the symptoms never return and you would be medication free!

Why this all makes sense with Juicing:

When I began juicing and taking my supplements, I was flooding my body with antibacterial, antifungal juice that essentially killed off this bacteria and others.  I also took oregano oil which is highly anti – yeast, bacteria and potentially anti-map.  I stopped the oregano and continued juicing and symptoms came back again slowly.

We shall see what happens with all of this.  I have contacted 2 doctors who believe in this treatment to ask if they might even prescribe the antibiotic protocol to me from a distance.  It does not hurt to try:)

BTW – I drank a ton of milk when I was younger and was on dairy overload throughout high school.  It all started as IBS, but maybe was developing slowly over time.  The research suggests that this bacteria take a long while to fully develop and cause Crohn’s.  Interesting stuff!!

**New** Super Hydrating Juice Recipe

This is quite a good one folks!! The flavor is sweet and color is pretty awesome.  The benefits are through the roof on this one as it is highly alkaline from the watermelon and lemon.  The other ingredients are all anti-inflammatory.  This was just a very good one for taste and health.  Give it a try!  It made a lot of juice too:)

Energy Through Hydration

Backing up Juicing Claims

I have gotten a few challenge responses here or there that really try to shoot down the benefits of juicing and what the goal of this blog site really is.  (These individuals are usually ones who have never tried or have tried and given up on juicing quickly.)  The goal of this site is to share information and to help others with outside the box thinking.  The goal is not to make money from advertising and WordPress does not allow that anyway.  Plus, after writing over 200+ posts and answering every single inquiry within 1 day, my goal is clearly to help others who need new ideas.

After talking with a parent the other day about the benefits of juicing, I came up with an interesting way of thinking about why it truly works if you give it a good try. Think about how drinking soda causes weight gain, spikes sugar levels and many other health ailments or how drinking alcohol dries you out and causes fatigue.  If what you drink in these cases causes so many documented health problems, then it is highly probable that drinking the juices from fruits, veggies and herbs can cause the complete opposite.  If you would like to seek out and watch Superjuice Me or Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, you will see what I mean about progress.  

Why do I feel energized from wake to sleep? Why do I feel mentally clear and quicker? Why is my immunity through the roof when others catch every cold that comes by? Why have my allergies disappeared? The only thing that I do differently that others do not is drink juices once daily 7 days a week.  I feel the benefits and I can see the healing that takes place, but you have to commit to it for at least 1-3+ months to really see the positive changes.  Many do it for a few weeks, stop and then say it does not work.

Thus ends my rant on the benefits of juicing.  I will continue to do this for myself and as I keep encountering others who state that its is just a fad, good luck to you.  I will keep at it for myself:)

Juicing for Crohns, Nutrition and Energy

The first year of daily juicing was an exciting one.  I placed myself into remission without the aid of drugs or steroids with just fruits, vegetables, supplements and probiotics.  I gave my trillions of cells exactly the type of nutrition that they needed and really felt the boost in energy that lasted all day long.

Then while not changing anything in my routine, I ended up with a bowel obstruction back in October 27.  I was baffled as to how this could have happened when everything was going so well. It wasn’t until a few months later on that I made the connection between my dog getting sick and passing away to this hospitalization.  He passed away just 2-3 weeks prior to the obstruction.  The doctor said that I had had a stress induced flare up.  My wife also reminded me that this happened with both of my children coming along.

I now take a small dose SSRI to reduce any stress that I don’t even know is there.  With being a teacher of 8 year old children, struggling with money, my dog passing and having kids of my own, I actually have a lot of stress going on.

With all of that said, I have not stopped a single day of juicing.  I believe that it can do amazing things for your gut environment and will heal your damaged gi lining. It gives me energy and boosts my immunity greatly!  It provides the ultimate nutrition when food is limited!!

Something new that I have added into my supplement routine are Turmeric pills.  I take one after dinner and it is said to be stronger than the steroid that the doctor prescribes for inflammatory response.  = Drew has a drink for ya!

Crohn’s/IBS Calming Juice

Monday Soother:

  • 2 pears
  • 1 apple
  • 1/2 fennel bulb
  • 4 carrots
  • 1/2 lemon with skin
  • 1 inch ginger
  • a small bunch of mint

I created this recipe in honor of my grumbling stomach on a Monday morning.  It seems that Monday is the hardest on my system due to waking up extra early at 5:20 and rushing around to get to school on time.  I have no trouble on the weekend when I get to wake up slowly and the rest of the week is usually pretty good.  It is a true case of the Mondays’.

Here’s the breakdown:

  1. Pears:  Soothing, anti-inflammatory and a light sweetness to the recipe.
  2. Apple:  Soluble fiber for gentle detox.
  3. Fennel: IBS soother! Cuts down on gas and calms spasms.
  4. Carrot:  Digestive system soother for the gi lining.
  5. Lemon: Anti-inflammatory
  6. Ginger:  IBS soother! Anti-inflammatory
  7. Mint:  IBS soother! Anti-inflammatory, gas reducer.

The taste with this one is a smooth sweetness with the fennel coming through along with the heat of the ginger.  The Heather’s Tummy Tamers that I take here and there are made of fennel, ginger and mint and the drink version of this is pretty darn good.

Which Juice do I begin with??

I get this question all the time and I think I have found the correct answer to show you that juicing can be so incredibly tasty. You then realize that the juice in the store is just plain sugar water when compared to this recipe below.

This recipe is great because it is very simple to create with just 4 ingredients.  It has an amazing golden orange color and it includes some ingredients for strengthening your immunity and energy level.  Let’s be honest, you want juicing to taste great first while enjoying the health benefits.  It truly does take a while for your taste buds to be ready to handle something like a Mean Green.  Don’t just jump into a green juice!  You also might detox too quickly and it feels like the flu.  

The Beginning 

  • 3 oranges peeled
  • 1/4 pineapple peeled
  • 4 orange carrots
  • 1/2 lemon with skin

This recipe makes about 16-20oz

  1. Oranges:  Leaving the white pith on adds a cancer fighting benefit in addition to Vitamin C and energy.
  2. Pineapple:  This contains Bromelain, a powerful enzyme for digestion.
  3. Carrots: Cancer fighter, digestive soother, help for your eye sight.
  4. Lemon: PH alkalinity, cancer fighter, digestion/weight loss.

One of the coolest things about getting all these tests done for my recent set back was the urinalysis test.  Most people on average have a ph of about 6.5-7 and my ph came out at 8.0!! The juicing lowers the acidity in the body where disease likes to flourish and creates an alkaline environment where they perish.  This was great news because bottled water ph sits at about 7-7.5 ph, so having 8.0 running through my body and kidneys is good stuff!

I hope you enjoy this recipe as a good starting point.  The next few green ingredients to try subbing in would be cucumber, celery or spinach.  All three have a mild flavor and can be covered with ingredients like orange, pineapple, grape, apples or pears.

After you have played around with those mild greens, then you can start bringing in the Kale, parsley, cilantro, collard greens, dill and cabbage.

It is a process for your taste buds and for creating recipes that don’t make you gag and give up right away.

Set Back or Motivation?

I have had some recent set backs in health in the past few months that lead me to speak to my gi doctor recently.  It has been about 1.5 years since I contacted him.   I was experiencing nausea, appetite loss, fullness and a bit of anxiety that I just could not explain.  He looked over all of my tests that were all normal and suspected another possible blockage.  After taking colon blow, I still did not find relief and I called back again.  He suspects that my gi tract is mildly inflamed at the ileum where I had my first blockage and prescribed a steroid.  He said a CT scan does not always pick up mild inflammation and that makes sense with a blockage there.

At first I saw this as a set back, but now I am motivated to turn this around both medically and naturally.  I do plan on taking the steroid and I plan on focusing my juice to fight inflammation and bacterial overgrowth.

I am also going to start a round of Candibactin AR an BR.  I plan on taking the Candibactin AR long term because I believe that the inflammation is driven by bacterial overgrowth deep into the intestine.  Each time I have started an Oregano oil supplement, I saw results in just a few days.  I truly believe that bacteria is a key factor to Crohn’s and the inflammation.  This is why doctors prescribe strong probiotics, but you need something else to kill the overgrowth as you repopulate.  This is also why many do well with a fecal transplant.

I believe that my system might always have trouble keeping the balance of flora and this is why I am choosing the Oregano oil along with powerful mixes of fruits, vegetables and herbs daily.

After going through this set back, I thought that this blog was coming to an end because the idea is to basically cure yourself from Crohn’s through juicing, diet and supplements.  I still believe that this can happen and there will always be some road blocks ahead.

I have made tremendous progress through juicing for over one year and who knows why our bodies decide to go a little crazy sometimes.  I blame it on stress – haha!

I think this is also a perfect opportunity to do some self-testing and bring in the Candibactin AR, Juice and Probiotics to monitor what it does for me.  I will be reporting back as I see results and pass them along to you.  Have a great weekend!

**A New Year: Overall Wellness**

It is that time of year again for resolutions.  Many begin a resolution and lose sight of it after just a few months.  They should be commended on at least starting something to improve themselves.

I see a new year as the opportunity to create a new lifestyle and not just a quick resolution.  The resolution that you choose should become part of your daily routine so that it just feels natural and easy.  This is what I did with juicing for one full year. My routine was always to hit Trader Joe’s each weekend with a list of ingredients for juicing.  Each day I have a certain time that I like to create some juice recipes and I try to stick to that.  Of course having a juicing blog helps to keep going as well 😉 – Thanks Tammy!

My resolution this year does not deal with juicing because it is just daily routine at this point.  I will certainly continue that each day.  My resolution is to attempt to attain overall wellness through food choices and diet.  To add more variety, colors and new ideas to each meal.  My RD has assigned me the FODMAPS diet plan as of yesterday and I love that I have a structured plan to go by.  I was eating some things that might not have agreed with my system since learning about this diet and it is very interesting.

Health Lifestyle Routines / Resolution Choices:

  • Start a juicing challenge online – There are three about to start that I know of.
  • Add juicing once daily to your routine and stick with it!
  • Buy a juicer and leave it in full view – make it your new lifetime hobby!!
  • See a different type of doctor than your specialist for new ideas – RD or Holistic Doctor.
  • Try some of my supplement suggestions daily to work on your microbiome.
  • Share your trials and success with others.
  • Never stop researching for new ideas and ways to heal rather than just take pills and give up.

What ever you decide to do this year, make sure that it is realistic enough to make it at least one full year and beyond.  If it starts to work for you, share with as many people as you can.  You never know who you might help out there with just one small tip they have never thought of.
