***Power Greens Juice***

Power Greens Variation:

  • 2 apples
  • 1 beet
  • 2 handfuls spinach
  • 2 handfuls Kale
  • 1/4 Pineapple
  • 1/2 Lemon with skin
  • 4 Celery spears
  • 1 inch ginger

This recipe comes off of my Android app with some added ingredients to add even more power.  I added the lemon to help cover the Kale and the Pineapple to sweeten some of the bitter flavors.

Here are the conditions that this mixture is great for:

Digestions, Diverticular Disease, Hemmorhoids, Indigestion, Fertility, IBD(Colitis and Crohns), Low Libido, Memory, Migrains, Circulation, Prostate Enlargement, Skin and many others.

This was quite a powerful one and not really for beginners.


The Cause of Crohn’s and Treatment

The article above is a bit scary to know how sharply Crohn’s has increased in a short period of time.  Sure detection methods have gotten better and you can blame it all on genetics you want, but to increase by 300%!! To increase that much there has to be much more to it than just genetics and better technology.

As I read about the MAP vaccine and many other articles, I believe Crohn’s is caused by a bacterial infection.  I believe that our air, drinking water, GMO processed food, Milk and wheat are responsible for causing this bacteria imbalance.  All of these things have changed over the last 10 years and are highly processed.  The chemicals used to keep these foods fresher longer must have a horrible effect on the gut flora balance.

So far, when testing Crohn’s patients for MAP over 93% test positive for the infection! Those that receive the triple antibiotic therapy to kill MAP go into remission rather quickly and that points to infection not heredity.

I remember taking Cipro for a month way back and I remember that my symptoms for Crohn’s greatly reduced.  At the same time though the Cipro was killing off the good bacteria as well.

Everything seems to point to a bacteria imbalance and I don’t think the immune system causes this.  I think the flora imbalance causes the immune system to begin the aggressive attack on everything.

It makes sense that strong probiotic therapies work.  Fecal transplants have worked as it changes the gut flora dramatically. Juicing works because many ingredients are antibacterial and anti-fungal.  The garlic and oregano work because both have anti-MAP properities.

So there are two schools of thought here I guess:

1.  Heredity/Genetics cause your immune system to go on the attack that creates a bacteria imbalance and food/environment has nothing to do with it.  300% increase of Crohn’s this way??

2.  Our food becoming void of nutrients, GMO/Pesticides go into the body and start to slowly change the good vs bad bacteria balance.  The MAP bacteria begin to grow out of control and your immune system starts to go on the attack.  The immune system needs to kick it up a notch and starts to attack everything even healthy tissue. Crohn’s begins and so does the endless cycle.


Immunomodulators:  Suppress the immune system so it does not attack healthy tissue, but the bacteria is still there.

Anti-inflammatories:  The immune system stays the same and creates inflammation.  The drugs soothe the inflammation, but the bacteria is still there!

Anti- MAP:  The triple antibiotic therapy seeks out to kill the bacteria first.  The immune system calms down and does not need to fight so hard.  Inflammation stops due to the immune system calming down.

My Natural Approach:  By taking the Oregano oil(antibiotic) and juicing daily, I was killing off this bacteria that was driving the immune system.  The juicing was also healing and nourishing.

It is hard to say what school of thought to go with.  I think it seems pretty obvious that for most people it is not heredity because there are just way too many cases popping up in developed nations when compared to those that are not industrialized.  They do not have the processed everything that we have:)

I have all ready added fruit to each morning for breakfast (pineapple, melons, orange, banana, ect..) and I plan on adding more power green salads too.  My goal is to use her 21 day meal plan to slowly add in more raw foods and maybe one day I will be eating mostly raw foods.

Why am I going to make this change?  

When you cook your food and it gets to a certain temperature, you begin to kill any bacteria or harmful microbes within the food and that is very good.  You also begin to kill off any beneficial components like probiotic or enzymes.  By eating some of the food raw, I am getting the same nutrition as when I add raw juice to my day.  Plus some of the food that is cooked does not do very good things to the gi tract such as inflammation, indigestion and acidity.

The challenge above is a super idea!  You do not have to jump into a fully raw diet for 21 days.  You just need to add in one raw food idea per day for 21 days.  As you move along through this challenge, you can personally add more than 1 a day and end up fully raw by 21 if you choose.

The Vegan Diet Experiment

I have seen countless videos from real people with crohn’s disease that say their symptoms have literally disappeared while trying to avoid meat and dairy.  They have gone off all medication and have been symptom free for many years.

They say the reason is that meat, dairy and eggs are not easily digestible and cause inflammation for those who are sensitive. I love eggs and I have been avoiding dairy even before diagnosis.

I decided to download an app that can scan bar codes to see what is vegan and what is not.  I was surprised to see that many of the foods I was already eating checked out vegan anyway.  I now just need to find a way to sub in ingredients to take over the eggs in the morning, the chicken sausages and the turkey burgers.

I found a good site to give it a try called  http://pcrm.org/kickstartHome/mealplan/ It has a shopping list and a meal plan to give it a good try.

Now the ultimate goal here is to make foods that are not overly processed and are in their natural state.  This will take some time and for now I will just try to sub in ingredients for the meat.

This should be interesting and it is worth a good try in addition to my juicing.  Those individuals that are juicing every day and eating vegan are doing fantastic!! They are never sick, they have not medication for any disease and they are bursting with energy.  I kind of want to test this to see if I can join them too:):)

I have posted about this recipe in the past, but now it is time to bring out the big guns and go back to the juices I started with. I seem to have gotten away from creating juices with massive amounts of green chlorophyll.  I am personally starting a green juice week that may lead to a month or more.  The recipe above will be my start today, but I need to make some changes due to the produce that is available.

My adaptation: 16+ oz

  • 1 whole lemon with skin
  • 2 apples
  • 1-2 inch ginger
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 3-4 celery
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1/2 bunch cilantro
  • handful of fresh mint

This is the type of recipe that I started with over a year ago.  A recipe that is filled with chlorophyll and fights all sorts of disease, infection, overgrowth, inflammation and ulcerations.  It is time to go back to that and stick to it to help solve any inflammation that I personally have going on.

Every ingredient in this recipe has some powerful influence over anything going wrong in your body.  It is different from just creating something sweet like pineapple, orange and carrot.  The juice above is a powerhouse against inflammation that can drive Crohn’s disease and many other health problems.

Please take the time to check out Lou Corona and his 4 principles of thinking.  It truly makes a lot of sense and I wish I could follow all of his ideas, but the diet seems like a big challenge for me.  I can however make the LGB juice and take enzymes/probiotics daily to at least follow part of the plan.

The drink mix above allows you to ditch your deodorant as the dill and parsley are natural internal deodorants.  I didn’t believe it when Dan McDonald stated that he does not need to wear deodorant anymore, but he sure was right about that. My body is so cleaned up on the inside that when I sweat, I have zero smell.  It is pretty crazy, but it truly works.

Do yourself a favor this Christmas and purchase a juicer and get started like I did just 1 year ago.  Who knows, you might be free of all that medication a year from now and urging others to get started juicing too.  Take care!

  • 1 apple
  • 4 wedges of Pineapple
  • 1/2 Lemon with skin
  • 1/2 golden beet
  • 1/2 bunch Cilantro
  • 3 Collard Green leaves
  • 2 leaves Kale
  • 1 thumb Turmeric

 – About 250% vitamin C

 – About 650% vitamin K

I have to say that I expected this recipe to be pretty rough tasting due to the heavy green ingredients.  I was totally surprised at how great this mixture was.  The pineapple, apple and lemon cover up all bitter flavors in this dark green concoction.

This recipe is completely detoxifying and it might be a good idea to wait until you have been juicing for a long while.  You do not want to feel the side effects of detoxing too quickly.

Anti-inflammatory Power House Juice

The Recipe:

  • 1/3 bunch Cilantro
  • 1/3 bunch Parsley
  • 3-4 Kale Leaves
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 1/2 Lemon with skin
  • 1 apple
  • 1/4 Chunks Pineapple
  • 1 inch Turmeric

I would like to start off by saying that the mixture above was very tasty despite some of the green ingredients.  I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors.  I only like to share recipes that I have personally tasted.  There have been quite a few mistakes along the way that fell into the category of 100% health and 0% taste.

To build this juice I got my inspiration from The Life Regenerator on youtube, Dan McDonald.  He has many of the same ingredients, but I changed it according to taste and what I had in my fridge.  If you have not checked him out, you really need to because he has been juicing for 15+ years and has a wealth of information/recipes for you.  http://www.youtube.com/user/liferegenerator

I thought about this juice in 3 parts:

  1. Greens/Anti-inflammatory
  2. Water content
  3. Taste/Cover flavors.

I like to have a decent amount of juice to drink each day.  I used the cucumber, apple and pineapple to get some water content into the juice.  I also need the juice to be drinkable so the apple and pineapple really gave it a good natural sweetness.  The greens in this drink are amazing for all health ailments.  They are antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory.  The anti-inflammatory king of this juice is the Turmeric.  Turmeric is being touted as possibly the most anti-inflammatory substance on the planet!!

This juice came out a very dark green in the Omega.  The taste was perfectly balanced and all I could taste was the pineapple, apple and lemon mostly.  The beauty of juicing is that the bitter tastes of the Kale and other greens are within the juice, but are just masked by the sweetness of other ingredients.  Super nutrition for you cells with great taste.  I shall drink this one again tomorrow!!:)

Crohn’s Reset and Elimination

I was recently hospitalized for a bowel obstruction made of food which did not digest.  I usually over do everything so eating large quantities of nuts without drinking liquid sort of made a cement block in my intestines.  I know, stupidity!  I did ask if there was any evidence of Crohn’s Disease on Ct scans or blood tests and I was all clear!  No doctor even got into conversation about how I stopped medication, switched my diet and healed with juicing.  It was almost like they knew that would work without saying it.  shhh!

I was not allowed to eat from Tuesday to Sunday and only was allowed to consume liquids.  When I got out of the hospital my liquids became fresh juices and I started a 2-3 day juice fast.  Along with this I added my strong probiotic.  I also added Miso soup which contains active cultures.  I essentially got all of the stool out of my system and was now repopulating my gut with beneficial bacteria.  Now, my gut has been repopulated for a while, but for someone with full blown Crohn’s this might just flip the switch!!

This is similar to a fecal transplant in which a healthy person’s stool is placed into someone with Crohn’s Disease.  The new stool contains very healthy bacteria and it overtakes the unbalanced system.  I strongly believe that someone who has moderate to severe Crohn’s Disease would benefit from a juice fast reset.

  1. Start a liquid diet full of soups and broths
  2. Add in green juices 3-4x per day
  3. Take a strong probiotic 2x per day
  4. Eat foods that encourage good bacteria
  5. Take oregano oil to kill any left over harmful bacteria

I now believe that if you continue to eat processed foods and foods containing sugar while juicing, you really don’t make any progress.  Someone with Crohn’s Disease needs to do more than others to get back on track and stay there.  With all the above said, it was not that easy to fast for 2-5 days as I did.  You can eat here and there, but make sure that the food you select will foster strong good bacteria growth.

Juice Fast Green Recipe: This is the ultimate detox/healer when your system is already flushed out!

New Super Tasty Green Juice

The following mix really came out great today and was my pre-dinner juice now that I am on my 2 day juice fast.

Recipe:  Sweet Green Dill

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1/2 bunch parsley
  • 1/2 bunch dill
  • 1/2 lemon with skin
  • 1 orange without skin
  • 1 red or yellow beet
  • 1/4 pineapple

The Dill in this recipe was very surprising as I didn’t think it would go well.  I was pretty shocked at the great flavor of this one.  I don’t know if you ever noticed the lack of body odor when juicing parsley and dill?  When I juice these they are like internal deodorizers and there is no need for deodorant.  There is no smell – I had my wife check haha – She is a trooper!

The mix above is just packed with nutrition and I need that being on a fast like this.  I am fortunate that I know how to do this and I can get the vitamins I need to feel energized without solid food.
