A Weekly Reset

I just wanted to pass along something that I have been doing once a week that seems to be doing some good.  The idea of this reset might not work for most with Crohns who already use the restroom many times per day, but it is worth a shot!

In addition to daily juicing, I do a weekend reset where I flush out almost 100% of the colon and flood it with juice, probiotics, enzymes and vitamins.  The idea is that your colon is clear and never has any major build up to allow all of this good stuff to absorb and heal. It is is similar to the idea of a fecal transplant in that the colon is clear and you are adding health flora to create a new environment.  This process below is a much easier:)

The steps:

  • I eat pretty normally on the day of, but just smaller quantities.
  • Drink a lot of water – I drink alkaline water to begin.
  • Make a juice heavy on the carrots, but it must be 24-32oz to help flush.
  • After flushing your colon out and waiting to make sure your are pretty clear (see the beets), drink a heavy green juice such as the one below.
  • Add in your probiotic supplements and vitamins.
  • If you are sure you are clear, you might take one imodium to allow all the new stuff to sit in the colon and absorb/heal.  (I know it is a drug, but sometimes we need it)

Colon Cleanse Juice

  • A whole bag or more of organic carrots
  • 2 apples
  • 1 large beet
  • 1 whole lemon
  • 4-5 celery

The carrots and apples have a cleansing effect.  The beets will tell you that you are all clear when you see them later on – haha.

Green Replenish Juice

  • Kale
  • Cilantro
  • Parsley
  • 1/4 pineapple
  • 1 whole lemon
  • 2 apples
  • 1/2 cucumber

***Take this juice and blend in 1/2 an avocado to make a smooth, creamy sweet green juice.

Now that you have flushed everything out and replaced it with the juice of organic fruits, veggies, probiotics, vitamins and good fats, you can begin to change the environment over time.

    • It is almost like with crohns we need to flush out all the imbalance in bacteria each week and try to get it back to the way it used to be. If anything a clear colon gives you a clear mind:):) All the best!
