Juicing VS Blending/Eating Produce


There is quite a battle going on out there as to which is better for you between juicing and blending.  I get this question a lot: “well couldn’t you just eat the produce”? The answer to that is yes, but who would want to eat 1 apple, 1 pear, 1/2 beet, 2-3 kale leaves, 1 lemon, ginger in one sitting….You would also live in the bathroom! haha.  

When you eat the produce your body needs to use energy to break down the fiber and extract the juices containing the vitamins and minerals.  When you make a smoothie in a ninja or bullet, your body still needs to use energy to break down the insoluble fiber going through your gi tract.  

When you juice produce, you can extract the vitamins and minerals from the fiber and your gi system just rests!!! Almost 100% of the nutrients go directly into your blood stream and nothing is wasted within your body.  There still is some soluble fiber contained within the juice and this is also absorbed.  

When you do a juice fast your body gets to rest for 1-3+ days from processing solid foods.  It allows it to focus on healing now instead of processing fiber and food particles.  

Juicing is quite unique and if you don’t eat your fruits and veggies/herbs, it is a great way to get them into your body fast!!
